But sort-of related. I went to the Imperial War Museum Holocaust exhibit with paramour today (whyyyy did I not take him there before? I fail) and was having a browse at some fo the old Der Sturmer newspapers, and... I could sort-of understand them. Bits of them anyway. Ok, it's like being proud that you can read the Daily Mail headlines, but fuck, it's not gobbledegook any more!

I always felt that Stürmer headlines don't even make much sense when you're fluent in German. ;) But, still, I see your point. I was really proud of myself a few days ago when I heard a couple of Russians talking next to me on the train ... even though the only things I understood were little phrases like "you know", "and then I asked him" etc.

I'd meant to ask you how your German reading was as other half has a few book recommends for you (I read French and Italian but not German while he can do German as well).
