About the title... Mm... 'Mages In Arms'? 'The Mercenary Years'? (I think this one has been already used?) 'War Wizardry'? Mm... The titles that come to my mind are all related to war... Maybe, as you did with 'Ice and Steel' and 'Evony and Ivory', you should take one feature from each one of them and use it to form the title.
