All this Dahl-bashing's news to me too! I've read and loved not only most of his Children's stuff, but a whole bunch of his short stories (Tales of the Unexpected) too, and there's nothing like that in there! About the only thing I can think of where the bashers may have a case would be the film of You Only Live Twice (he did the script) and most of the less than enlightened stuff there is far more Ian Fleming's fault, Dahl actually salvaged the story for the most part!
