Yes, I did mean the Totenkopfverbände, not 3 SS Panzer Div., I was just too lazy to type it at the time. (And SS-TV often gets confused with SS-VT, so that's no good as an abbreviation either!) Do you know if anyone in the Totenkopfverbände actually tried to resign/protest/volunteer for duty on the Eastern Front? (This sounds like a good question for the Axis History Forum, but even there most of the stuff I read lumps them into a single group of war criminals.)
