Sorry if I sound dumb but why is green book bad? I thought it was based on a true story?

i havent seen it and im not gonna watch it but basically its about this world class pianist don shirley played by mahershala ali and his cab driver whos somehow the main character even though its a biopic of don shirleys life?? but anyways it was a weird ass racist mess and don shirleys family condemned it for being a white savior story bc they warped the story in the favor of the cab driver who is literally irrelevant? and mahershala ali apologized to the family bc he didnt know they didnt approve of it. the director/screenwriter did not apologize even tho its actually their fault and are just continuously benefitting from this bastardized racist version of an actual persons life
