Reasonable person: I’m getting treatment for my mental illness because I hate what it has done to my life
Some cunt on tumblr: sounds ableist :/
Cause it is ….
If you’re privileged enough to get treatment shut the fuck up about it or use your privilege to fund other people …
Also recovery as a concept is ableist ?? You can’t fully recover and expecting people to is horse shit

Recovery is possible in most cases. It’s hard, it’s going to make you want to scream for hours and tear out your own hair sometimes, it’s not going to ever go easy on you, but it is possible. Money and privilege are huge factors in the accessibility of tools for recovery, but even if you cannot afford a single tool, dwelling in your own suffering and insisting it’s ableist not to is not helpful to you or to other disabled folks.
Full recovery depends on your definition of recovery. You’re not going to forget the experiences that you suffered through. You’re not going to be the same person again. But nobody is. How long do your symptoms have to be in remission before you’re recovered fully? Forever? Not even neurotypical people are mentally in a good state for their entire lives. Finding happiness again is possible, recovered or unrecovered.
It’s a similar crab bucket mentality that incels have, they can’t bear seeing people getting better and improving themselves, because if they do, they’ll realise what a shitshow the community is.
