Oh Shit

So there's a robot that's been built, and it's sort-of self aware, it can recognise itself, can adjust how it moves if hurt, etc. About the level of a smart house-cat, although unknown as of yet if it has thumbs.

As I like robots as a rule, am anti-luddite and look forward to welcoming out new synthetic overlords, I wasn't too bothered until I got to this line:

Reminded of malicious robots and computers turning on their human masters in movies like "The Terminator" and "2001: A Space Odyssey," Lipson was not worried.

"We just pull the plug out of the robot. That's all," Lipson said. "There are more immediate things to worry about than to worry about that."

BAD BAD NOT GOOD BAD DO NOT DO REALLY DO NOT DO OH FUCK WE'RE DOOMED

Why do you think all those robots turned against their human masters in the first place?!
