More Memes, less life

Comment with the name/title of a fandom I'm aware of, no matter how obvious you think the answers will be, and I'll reply with the relationships -canon or not - from it I ship, along with at least one that I definitely DO NOT ship. I'll give favourite romantic relationships as well as favourite platonic ones. Also, you're free to reply in subthreads and ask me why I ship or don't ship something.

What the hey, it cheered me up.

I've always wondered what other pairings aside from Harry/Voldemort you would like or dislike from the Harry Potter fandom. I was also curious as to the pairings you would choose in Lord of the Rings.

[identity profile] halokitty69.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh yeah...lord of the rings. That would be interesting to see...

...particularly since of the *very* few males I fancy, two of them are lord of the rings characters

although if you even think Legolas/Gimli, I will throw something at you ^_^

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hey! Legolas and Gimli make a lovely couple! *throws things back at kitty*

[identity profile] halokitty69.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Grrrr...Legolas is mine ^_^

Also the whole concept of elf/dwarf pairing is just wrong...elves=tall, dwarves=short. The sheer mechanics of it is mind-boggling.

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the love-in-spite-of-differences factor. And /I/ like the tragic side of elf/mortal pairings.
Also, Legolas /Aragorn is completely not logical! Legolas/Gimli is at least somewhat founded on the book. (Though of course not as much as Sam/Frodo, that's not a pairing I'd ship, but it's so obvious it's not even subtext any more.) I mean, they ride one horse together... *hinthint* (Sounds harmless? Try it!) And if travelling the world together for some hundred years isn't a good basis for a relationship, I don't know what is.

But hey, if you don't accept a dwarf as competition, what about that fangirl mob outside your window??? ";-)

[identity profile] halokitty69.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I can take on the fangirls, but I think a hard-ass dwarf would wipe the floor with me :D

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully... *cackles evilly in defense of her pairing*
Though fangirls aren't to be underestimated for their sheer numbers! *offers kitty a hand up after the stampede is gone*

I just might have to differ with you on the ownership of Legolas. *grin*

However unlikely it seems, there are grounds to argue for a Legolas/Gimli pairing. I don't care for it, but it IS possible, especially with what was written in the books. It has also been said(don't quote me one this, I read it somewhere, but I don't remember where exactly) that Legolas was one of two elves (Ereinion Gil-galad was the other) who never married (like I said, don't quote me on it) so it could stand to be reasoned that Legolas took Gimli with him to Valinor because they were lovers.

A Legolas/Gimli pairing is not my thing however. I would prefer to Legolas with either Aragorn or Elrond(or one of the twins instead).

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'll leave you to fight over Legolas, as long as I get Boromir ;)

[identity profile] analia-the-1st.livejournal.com 2006-10-22 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
You can have him! I like my males pretty. Or evil. Or both!

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-22 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
That why we like Raistlin/Dalamar...

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-22 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear me yes.

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-22 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, hands off the Witch-king, he's mine!

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's have ten-somes with the ringwraiths! *lol*

[identity profile] halokitty69.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Aragorn is hotter than Boromir. He is the only 'manly' bloke I fancy. I once had a week long ongoing argument with one of my mum's friends (who is a big fan of Sean Bean) over which one was hottest ^_^

[identity profile] halokitty69.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
One of my mates explained the Gimli and Legolas friendship thing to me yesterday. I haven't read the book for ages and I never remembered that part. But when he was telling me about the fact that Legolas refused to leave middle earth unless Gimli went with him I just went 'awwwwwwww'...it is kind of sweet. I can see why that pairing makes sense as far as canon goes.

But I still maintain that elf/dwarf is wrong.

Hmmmm...Legolas and Elrond...just makes me think of Elrond in the films, who I find kinda scary. Who are the twins? I'm sure I remember seeing fanart on DeviantArt of Legolas with a couple of uber-hot young elves...*drool*

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah! You're slowly getting it! Now grab the next pretty person and let them sit with you on horseback and then see whether you can resist the ensuing romance... ";-D

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and the twins are Elrond's sons.
And in the film I really hate how they did the elves, all of them... They are so /human/.

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
although if you even think Legolas/Gimli, I will throw something at you ^_^

Dwarves... gross. Nope, not for me ;), although as friends is just fine. As I said, I like Aragorn/Boromir.

[identity profile] halokitty69.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Ever written any lotr slash?

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's never really grabbed me as a fandom. I like reading it, but that's as far as it goes.

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I actually have no opinion on HP, even Harry/Voldemort is more of an appreciation of Voldemort than for the pairing. I don't have a hated or favourite pairing in that fandom, so my hate for JKR's romance due more to her dreadful romantic wiring, rather than the pairings.

LotR, well, other than hot elves... ;) I do like Aragorn/Boromir. I don't have a hated pairing because I don't hang around that fandom much. I can't stand RPS, however.

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
RPS? (I guess it's something obvious, but you always get me with these abbrevs.)

[identity profile] skull-bearer.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Real Person Slash, or het for that matter. I've never been one for actors. The only celebrity I really am attracted to is Marilyn Manson and I couldn't imagine ever slashing him.

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
*looks mightily confused* Strange idea that! Fictional characters are so much more interesting! And why would anyone want to write fiction about actors? They already have lives...
