For once, the internet is of no help
On the off chance any of you know the answer to this:
I need a new pair of decent shoes. Dr Martens are looking like my best bet, and I have fond memories of my last pair (which died during the '07 backpacking trip).
I have recently heard about a Docs For Life deal the brand are running, basically you buy a pair of docs and when they dies, they're replaced. I thought this sounded like a pretty good deal.
However, today I went to Camden and talked to the people at the Doc Shop, and they told me it was a scam, the boots are crap and you have to pay £80 for every new pair, which is hidden in the small print. Decided, I looked at some of their reccomendations, which were quite a bit more expensive, but, they assured me, would be much better. As I'm still shopping around, I didn't buy anything.
However, I return home today and decide to look them up myself on the 'net. Such a scam, I decided, would be swamped with complaints. There was nothing. Nothing. People seemed satisfied, and there was no mention of an £80 replacement fee. The only fee I could find was in the terms and conditions and stated a £20 cost for postage and return of new/repaired docs. £20 is perfectly reasonable.
