Just the other day I was reading a book which compared New Deal policies to those of fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. In the US, the racism was more low key by several thousand orders of magnitude, but according to the book, the work and structural policies are eerily similar.
It did start me thinking about an Alternate History in which the US entered the war on the fascist side instead of the allies ...
I read a book that kinda did that: K is for Killing. It's weird and very trashy but lots of fun, the sort of book you knew the author was having a blast writing.
Otherwise the best book hands down for fascist America is It Can't Happen Here. Which was written in 1935 so had an unsual take on Nazi Germany (barely mentioned at all).

A delightful bunch peddling hate off the back of the US's liberal free speech policies.
These days they're Fred Phelps..........
