WATCH THIS! It put in words the whole problem of Cates run with Venom

This guys put it perfectly. Here a few of the things that hit best with me:
“This is not a story. This is a collection of egotistical retcon that a writer just came up with in a list”
“[Some writer] think that to leave a mark on a character you have to retcon everything about them and make up your own shit”
“The only thing this book does is saying “here is a piece of Eddie Brock history, and here’s how it’s different now!”. […] And that’s all it does, there is no story”
“It’s a book for people who don’t know about Venom. […] It’s the only people I see praising it”
“[Quote tweets saying Cates run is best run], you only think that because you don’t know the character and because the artwork is visually impressive”
“There are other flaws but that’s the most glaring,[…] the arrogance behind it”
So yeah, so much for “6 people on Tumblr” heh Cates?
Oh how I wish he would see this… but sadly he’s an arrogant coward.
Also, this video made me realise something very bad. The guy in the video is right, a lot of people who don’t know Venom, who have never read a Venom issue before, are gonna come into comics, and find this run. This shit will be their first run. And most people won’t bother picking up anything else.
So for them, this version of Eddie Brock will be the “true” Venom/Eddie Brock.
This piece of shitty arrogant retcon, will be how they see Venom. Taken at face value.
THIS is why Cates run is successful. Because he was lucky to be the writer when the movie made a win and people flocked to the comics for more.And now he can fuck up ALL those new writers.
And that’s just sad.
Remember, if you ever get the chance, point out to Cates that the only reason he’s writing Venom is because Disney doesn’t want to give Sony anything good for their next movie.
They did that same thing with X-Men, ran it into the ground and killed most of them off so people are less like to get into Marvel franchises outside their control. This is what they are doing with Venom, call Cates out of it for being Disney’s own saboteur.
