In it'sd infinite wisdom, AFF.net has decided not to allow anything to be posted for the next month. This could be because of certain difficulties, but frankly I'm too pissed to care.

So my NC-17 chapter of Crepuscule is going up here instead.

It's my last week in London. :.(

I'm scared, upset and I really want to cry. Either it's finally sinking it, or I've got PMS. I'm betting on the latter.

Oh, I really want to hug someone, but then again I don't really want to because I'll just end up sobbing like a lunatic and wake up with a cracking headache in the morning. Crying heavily gives me hangovers.

Anyway, all is not lost, here's chapter seven of Crepuscule:

Of Ambush )

Home at last, it was a fun sort of trip, but the fourth day I was going stir crazy. What was more, the boat's walls weren't soundproof, so I could hear everything that came from the parental unit's bedroom.... pass the mental scrubbing brush... *flushes head down loo*

I left this afternoon, there are still two days left, but I couldn't bear it. I got off at Oxford.

Anyway, because what the day generally consisted of was hanging around watching the landscape pass, I did a lot of reading, among which wasx the 'Mystery of the Crystal Skulls', which I will rant on as soon as I have been able to assimilate the mind-blowing stuff and sort it into coherent language. It you want a book that'll change your life, then pick it up. Especially if you like Central American cultures (the skulls are Mayan and those people were way cool) and dislike the status quo.

Word of warning, when I say that the book upset the status quo, I mean it. Everything in the Western way of thinking is held up and had it's faults pointed out.

Plus, my stepdad and I will be going to museum of mankind to see one of the skulls, and all I have to worry about is how to steal it, hitch a ride to Mexico, and put it back where it belongs (in a Mayan pyramid).

Anyway, I also got the chance to re-read HP6, not so bad the second time round (I was prepared), still stunned by the Tonks/Remus pointlessness, but I can see why many people are saying that Snape is still a good guy. The future of the books now hangs on this one thread. If Snape turns out to have been acting on Dumbledore's orders, then HP6 will be bearable, if not, then the whole series will be shot.

It an way, I'm almost hoping Snape will be a Death Eater, but that's just because I want to see people's reactions. Everything in me that loves good writing (and that's nearly everything) screams from Snape to be at least partly redeemed, is not vindicated outright. I can almost believe it too, because I honestly believe JKR wouldn't stoop that low.

Still, fingers crossed.

After reading HBP, I re-read Amber Spyglass for the third time. Gods, Pullman is such a brilliant writer! He managed to piss off everyone! He killed God for pity's sake! Hat's off to The Man, Mr Pullman. And don't let the critics get you down, you leave writers like JK Rowling in the dust.

I love the gay angels, it was so slashy! I know, it's canon material and therefor canon gay relationships are not, per say, slashy, but it was written in such a slashy way. They was none of this iffing or ahing that you so often get in books, as if the author's looking over his shoulder to check that no-one's seeing him write this or worrying that it wouldn't be published. It was like slashers writer, they're in love, it's blatent, it's obvious, and it's squee-able. Okay, it's tragic, but then so are so many fics, Gods know I've come across many in the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan fandom *sniff*.

Anyway, while we're on the topic, here's chapter 6 of Crepuscule. Update will be quicker because I've still got several days holiday and I already have chapter 7 and half of chapter 8 drafted.

are exactly as their title says, loners and
artist. Now you are not alone by choice but
many people find you odd. This only bothers you
when you're in a public place like a dance club
or a crowded lunchroom so you tend to steer
clear of those places. You might have a friend
or two but they're either Loner Artists like

You're like me! The intelligent loner. You're shy
at times but friendly, and you are never weak
and always independent. You are incredibly
intelligent (wise beyond your years) and have a
talent for many things (sports, music, art).
You have a kind and warm personality and enjoy
the simple things. Like hanging out with
friends and watching movies at home. But you're
sometimes quiet nature makes you a bit of an
outcast and a mystery to people. No matter how
pretty you are or smart or athletic, you just
can't seem to break into the crowd and be
noticed. Don't worry, try to be more outgoing
and speak out when you have more to say. Don't
hide behind your books and sports and computer,
get out there and get noticed. You also have
deep desires in life and feel vunerable and
alone at times. Don't feel sad either, What
helps me to express feelings and dreams that I
can't say to people, is through my writting.
Maybe you should try.

Sunset is the time of day that best describes your
personality. You are the definition of loner.
Its not that you dont like hanging out with
friends and meeting new people, you'd just
rather be by yourself. You may not show much
emotion, but you are kind to everyone and know
how to make people feel comfortable. The
saying "still waters run deep"
describes you very accurately.

Your Beauty lies in Individuality. Different, amazing, and all your
own. You like be set apart from all others and most love that you do. You are
solitary at times, but for the most part, there is no greater compliment to
you than someone telling you that you are different. You're most likely a bit of
a fighter and you hate it when anyone attempts to change who you are. You
wear what you want, look how you want and don't let anyone tell you what do to. You
can be a little immature at times and have trouble dealing with authority and
asking others for help. You like to do things yourself and are independent
almost to a fault. But, people still find your individuality amazing and the fact
that no matter what happens or what anyone else anyone thinks about it, you
will not change who you are.

Crepuscule, Chapter Four )

skull_bearer: (Default)

Bad Skull Bearer for neglecting this! *hits self over head with teapot* Bad!

I have been so busy these past few days! One chapter after another, now chapter 3 is up and four has ben sent off to be beta-read. The problem is that Dalamar Nightson (my previous beat reader) has just come back from her holidays, and the thing is that Chetwynd, who was beta-ing in her absence, is so much better at it! (this is unsurprising, as he work as a English-Spanish translator for TSR and has read the vast majority of Dragonlance books) So I have to find a way to a) ask Chetwynd to continue being my beta (he's very busy) and b) tell Dalamar Nightson that I no longer need her as my beta in a way that wouldn't incite a flame war!

An in the meantime I have a maddened bunny gnawing on my left elbow and demanding to be written, it's an AU of Ivory and Ebony where Raistlin was killed by the Belzorites and Dalamar took his place in Chronicles. Then, after the War of the Lance has been won and the Gods have returned, he goes to Goldmoon and askes her to resurrect Raistlin.

So now Raistlin has to deal with a world that has effectively been turned on it's head and where Dalamar is the Master of Past and Present! On the plus side, he doesn't have to bother with Fistandantilus and his Test will no doubt be much easier, but his destiny has effectively been stolen from him and it's only a matter of time before he starts to suspect...

Oh yes, and the angst will be monumental.

Anyway, I put that bunny up for adoption at[Bad username or unknown identity: , I hope someone will take it,][Bad username or unknown identity: because between real-life and Ivory and][Bad username or unknown identity: Ebony, I haven't got the time to write it.]

Went to see Fantastic Four yesterday with Olga, was a pile of rubbish. The only fun parts was sitting with Olga and laughing as the various slashy innuendos and dicussing possible pairings. The story itsel was naff and the romance made me want to projectile vomit.

Anyway, apart from that, a fairly fun few days, did a whole revamp of my room and got rid of a lot of dead wood (all right, old books), I'll be selling them to the Fantasy Center on Thursday.

Oh yes, and I finished the next chapter of Crepuscule, and this one's finally getting some reviews, two in the last 24 hours, which is good for a DL fic.

Anyway here's that handy cut )

Talk about life taking a dramatic upswing! Today (and yesterday) has been wondeful. I have a walking holiday in the Andes planned for next month.

Plus, my mother has finally made up with Reg! This is brilliant because this means we'll be seeing him a lot more and I've been missing him awfully. Mum sounds a lot better, onviously that little meeting I helped engineer between her and Reg worked wonders. She'll be coming back on Friday.

Not only that, but I have a nice evening out with my mother and stepdad to look forward to, a potentially explosive D&D game with Olga and Rowan on Sunday and a trip to Sonning soon (Sonning's a tiny and very beautiful village on the banks of the Thames).

All in all, feeling great, and since I'm the kind to spread the love, here's the completed and beta-read first chapter of Crepuscule-
