Man, do I ever love those guys. They're all 50 something and they still rock. Also found another of their songs I love, which bumps their latest album up my favourites list. It's not going to threaten Brave New World any time soon, but it's pretty damn good.

I don't listen to much radio, and don't read music articles, so usually my main way of finding out if the bands I like have done anything new is to check their wiki page. For future reference, I'm listing them here so it's easier than scrolling through my huge playlist. These are not necessarily my favourite artists, but those that regularly deliver great music and are still making stuff. There's not much point in my checking on Hendrix, is there?

AC/DC: I don't care that they've been effectively making the same song for 22 years. It's a damn great song and I loved their last album.

Alice in Chains: Hit and miss, some of their stuff is fantastic, some of it barely qualifies as music in my book. Whatever, it's worth a gamble.

Covenant: Although their last album wasn't stand out brilliant.

Drowning Pool: Need to check them, in fact. Their last album was ages ago but it was really good.

Florence + The Machine: The last one was pretty recent so there won't be a new one for some time :( boo...

Iron Maiden: Their last album again wasn't brilliant, I only really liked El Dorado of the tracks there, but hey, Maiden.

The Kovenant: Although they're being positively GRRM about a new album...

Lostprophets: These guys were the first gig I went to. I think it was one of their first as well. They knocked over a microphone and a speaker into the crowd. Last album again wasn't entirely my thing, but I hope it'll grow on me.

Marilyn Manson: After two none too brilliant albums, his most recent production was actually pretty good. Not up to Holy Wood and Antichrist Superstar standards, but definitely worth sticking with. Hopefully he's having a resurgance.

Melissa Etheridge: Earlier albums a bit hit and miss, but Fearless Love (her latest) was epic. Looking forward to more.

Monster Magnet: They were good then, they're great now. Their last album had one of my favourite tracks of all time (Time Machine) and I'm waiting eagerly for more.

Nickelback: Okay, why do people hate them? I love these guys. Their last album was exactly what I was hoping for from them, roll on the next one.

The Offspring: I stopped following them for a while, and more recently got back into them. Their last album was great!

Queens of the Stone Age: I really didn't like Era Vulgaris, which only had two tracks I even want to listen to, let alone like. However, their previous work makes me give them the benefit of the doubt and hope their next album is better.

Rammstein: Need I go on? :)

Reverend and the Makers: Only just discovered these guys, they're amazing.

Seal: He's still recording?! Holy shit I love that guy.

I rather worried a friend of mine when, talking about Led Zeppelin, I said there was only one of their songs I considered worth listening to.

He didn't say anything, but he might as well have said 'If you're about to say Stairway to Heaven, I may have to stop being friends with you'.

He was a bit befuddled and relieved when I laughed and said 'Kashmir'.

Seriously, to me Led Zeppelin is the perfect example of the proverbial monkeys with keyboards (or musical instruments), whole lot of random noise, one amazing bit of Shakespeare.

Anyway, putting together a playlist of my best music ever.

Nickelback has a new album out

*rocks out*

Incidentally, I'll be Berlin from the 2nd to the 6th. Anyone up for meeting? I'll be with my class for the weekend, but otherwise, it would be cool to me able to meet someone there. (if my deep dark secrettm of liking Nickleback hasn't put you off, that is)

I really like these guys. It's a crime they're not better known.

I have a great deal of music, some of which does not appear to be on the internets. In the interest of spreading the news about good bands, I will be posting tracks I believe to be criminally under-represented here, and on my Youtube channel.

First things first, Selected favourites from Bridge and Tunnel.

Well, I'm thinking a better question would be 'what music do you like that other people don't?'

I mean, it's forever a mystery to me why people don't immediately recognise the inherent brilliant of AC/DC and Iron Maiden, but they don't for some reason. I think Bridge and Tunnel is one of the best bands ever, Twilight Opera is gorgeous, The Kovenant sheer brilliance, Devil Sold His Soul despair and desperation made music.

I have broad tastes, because I like Gerry Raffety, Led Zepplin, The Smiths, Nickleback (don't laugh, I know they're crap, but I still like them), Siouxsie and the Banshees and Seal. But the latter bunch have much wider appeal than the former.

So yeah, I I'll be asking that in the future, because I'll probably get better answers.

And for those who follow this journal for the Erik/Charles fic, the reason I don't have a playlist for the pairing is that they have one song and one song only, this one:

....what do you mean you don't like Tool? How can anyone not love Tool?....

I've also been getting into Monster Magnet, if you don't know who they are, think of a milder Alice in Chains. If you don't know who they are either, check both of them out, you're missing out.
