riddle-wrapped:
I love the Venom movie, but I have a question…
Why didn’t the symbiotes break out of the lab as soon as they were semi-stable in a human host? According to the display on the door, Maria the homeless lady had been Venom’s host for 7 days before Eddie showed up, and the other guy had one for 4 days… why didn’t they bust out of there to go get some food if they were so hungry they had to feed on their hosts? Don’t tell me they weren’t strong enough, Eddie smashed that glass with the butt of a small fire extinguisher PRIOR to becoming a host. And then as soon as Venom transferred to him, Eddie’s immediately kicking down doors, busting through security fences, & launching off walls with enough force to destroy the tiles.
So… why didn’t they just break out? The cells did look pretty cold, were they somehow affected by the low temperature or something?
Hoping someone can offer some insight - Venom/Spiderman was never one of my comic books of choice, so I only know the vulnerabilities mentioned in the movie - the sound frequency thing & fire.
The background they gave the symbiotes in the movie doesn’t come from the comics, they made it up wholesale because they couldn’t involve Spiderman (he’s a major part of Venom’s backstory).
Personally, I headcanon that the symbiotes were waiting for Riot to organise something, and that their hosts weren’t good enough matches for them to use their full strength. Venom, who never liked Riot, took the first chance he had to escape, and found a perfect host.
However this is all extrapolation and headcanons, no one has actually confirmed anything one way or another.
