Google Earth
Feb. 3rd, 2006 02:21 amAm having a ridiculous amount of fun with Google Earth, spending all my time looking up various members of my family. My Dad's in Mexico City for reasons as yet unknown (I personally think he just wanted to go there and since he was in SA to begin with...) I envy him, despite the off-the-chart pollution readings the place has. He's sent me a pile of photos from there, skulls and masks and statues that he saw in a museum.
Hmm... I wonder if I should tell him that if he wants to get me a present, that I would like nothing more than a real, genuine human skull? The Aztecs must have a load left over even after all these years.
He's going to the pyramids there in two days and I am going to scream at the walls now. IT'S SO UNFAIR! I would love to go there.
Maybe if I learn Spanish he'll be more inclined to take me. He wants to, but the thing is that I can't speak Spanish so he'll have to translate, so he clearly doesn't want to.
Or rather, he'd want to, but what he'd need then would be a holiday-style trip, and he's too engaged with the place to be able to do that easily. The last few trips had been as much from business as anything else.
But if he's on holiday in Mexico City... I have time off, can I go there? Pleeeaase?
Anyway, since these trip have been for business, he'd think I'd just be bored, which is true, while I might find the subjects of the conversation intruiging, I'd have to be able to understand it first.
That's it, next semester I'm using my free module to learn Spanish. Nothing motivates better than a carrot to aim for.
Skull Bearer.
