Yesterday was the opera premier of Turandot, Olga and I went to an outdoor live screening. It was really good and I'm now writing an original story loosely based on the opera. Think a more sane version of Turandot with dark wizards in it (no, not Raistlin and Dalamar! I said original, anyway, it's het).

After that, we went to see another premier, Pirates of the Caribbean. No spoilers her but OMG OMG!!!! It was so brilliant! And the last scene! Kicked me straight out on my cinema seat!

Quick meme:

1. Have you ever had an addiction?

Does slash count? I tend to make my own addictions, for example I get cranky if I don't have several hours to daydream in.

2. Are you afraid of the dark?

I read Lovecraft, of course I'm afraid of the dark!

3. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Cookies and cream :D .

4. Have you ever been to the circus?

A few times, when i was younger I went to one that still have tigers and elephants.

5. What do you think of North Korea testing nuclear weapons?

I hate nuclear weapons, but as the west has several tons of the bloody things, I don't think we're in any position to judge.

Which started long ago (1999) and far away (Camden school for girls). Many years ago I changed secondary schools due to events that have absolutely no bearing here, in the library of my new school I discovered a gamebook, Lone Wolf- Flight from the Dark. Now, being a great fan of gamebooks, I took it out, despite not having a library card yet.

I never gave it back.

I read it, and discovered that unlike most gamebooks, this one was not a stand-alone. So, impatient to continue the adventure, I went looking for the next book. There wasn't one. Lone Wolf had been out of print for so long that there were no more to be had for love or money. For more than six years I looked, turning up books 3, 5, 23, 25, 27 and 28 (the last four having been stolen), a graphic novel (also nicked) and a handful of Lone Wolf novels (ditto).

As you can see I wasn't about to let a little thing like ownership (they were all taken from libraries, and I did pay the back for the 'lost' books so don't look at me like that!) get in the way of my collection, but still, it was a pitiful haul. Being the contray person I am, the harder it was to get the books, the more stubborn I became.

Then last year, I looked on Ebay.

Ah, joy and trumpets. I must have spent hundreds of pounds on Lone Wolf books there, they were all there, and I went a little... crazy. I bought so many I ended up having doubles! Before the end of the year, I had almost all of them. The first five were the easiest, as I already had three of them, then books 6-12 (6 was the hardest), then books 13-20 (getting a little difficult) and finally books 21-27. These last ones were the hardest, and I was so lucky to start off with four to being with. Book 22 alone cost me more than £60! And finally, today, it arrived. My collection is complete!
