From this interview with George Strayton, sceenwriter of the Dragonlance movie:
*headdesk*
*repeatedly*
I knew I was going to hate this movie. Hearing that arse whine about how tough his life is for 90 minute is anything but my idea of fun.
Worse, the bugger of a screenwriter didn't even mention Raistlin! He's only, oh the most important member of the group! Who else is going to pull in the fangirls to watch this film? It sure as hell won't be his beloved Tanis!
On the other hand, they're releasing DoAT in adventure module form next mon- actually, this month. We're in August now. Cool- Anyway, I've got twenty pounds running that within a week of getting that module, I'll be scribbling all over it so you can add Dalamar as a PC. With my dreaded blue fountain pen. (All three Chronicles books have now suffered this treatment). No one wants to take me up on this.
The Races of Ansalon sourcebook coming out in November also looks good. Oh who am I kidding? The only reason I get the damn things is to back up my fanfiction, I'm buying that book simply because they'll have stuff on Silvanesti I might be able to use for Dalamar.
Incidentally, I thank the stars everytime I write a new chapter that I have the Towers of High Sorcery sourcebook (If this was based on the Terry Pratchett books, it would be The Towers of High Sourcery sorcebook and don't tell me otherwise). They have a dictionary for the language of magic in there, and where you're writing a fic where both the main characters are wizards it comes in handy like you wouldn't believe. Particularly at the moment, when there's a lot of casting going on. I think up the spell I want to put in (being a geek and having an overwhelming knowlege of D&D spells is very helpful), look up the words that would fit the spell's effects and put them in roughly the right order. End result? Not having to fall back on the few spells who's incantations have been already revealed in the books.
Priceless.
For everything else, there's mastercard.
