I saw it, it was great, I had a blast, I'm now slashing Iron Man/Captain America, etc. Same as the rest of the world (although it seems to be slashing Iron Man/Bruce Banner, but hey). Anyway, I saw the latest Big Picture by Moviebob (his stuff tends to be excellent barring his 'I am the new coming of Christ' take on computer games), which was mostly on explaining who owns the various movie rights for the Marvel heroes.

I mean, I know I should be getting annoyed at this that big corperations are churning out dross (or not so dross in the case of X-men) in order to hang on the the various character, but you know what? I'm over the goddamn moon.

While I like the comics to some extent I've always had some issues with them, and a major part is the whole shared world stuff. I'm a huge X-men fan, I like just about everything about it, particularly the issues and parallels of the whole mutant thing. These issues tend to be overshadowed and rendered a bit pointless when as well as having mutants you have Norse Gods, aliens, and who knows what else also runnign around, raising the question of why the mutant issue is such a problem in the first place. People ought to be used to this sort of thing. It's distracting and unhelpful, and on a purely personal note, I don't like having to buy some comic about the guy I couldn't give two bricks for to find out what's happened to a character I do like.

But the movie right have been proportioned out pretty much exactly right for my tastes. We've got X-men over here, being awesome. We've got Fantastic Four over here, which I awesome because I hate those guys regardless of comic or movie. We've got Spiderman over here, meaning I don't have to see any of his movies either. And we've got Avengers over here, who were always 'The Avengers' for me because I never could care to read their individual comics. They're cool, but int he realm of crossover less is definitely more.

Oh, and to add pleasantries to generally being chuffed, if Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are in the Avengers then not only can House of M never happen, I can continue pretending they don't exist becuase magneto totally doesn't deserve to have those bloated bladder-sacks to deal with, thank you.
