The thing I’m curious about is all these posts and tweets about how America needs to vote out the Republicans in November, like they’re actually trusting these guys will just go ‘welp, guess for once I’m going to follow the rules I’ve been ignoring for the past few years and accept my career’s over’
Like, guys…
I don’t think they’re going to leave.
Um… I don’t doubt there will/has been gerrymandering and voter suppression and all the usual ways of attempting to cheat the vote in their favor, but the idea that House Republican #12 is going to be able to stay in office after having actually been voted out is frankly absurd. This isn’t medieval times where he can just dig in to a castle and refuse to leave. Like I’m not sure what you’re picturing here but there just is no mechanism for that.
Dude, they’ve been flat out refusing to follow these mechanisms and the party is being run by someone who doesn’t recognise these mechanisms at all. There was a motion to change a heavily gerrymandered district and the republican in charge of the state just- didn’t. That was his job, that was what he was meant to do, and he didn’t. They are realising the mechanisms are broken and the checks and balances aren’t working. I’m not saying it’s going to happen but look who you have in the white house, it’s worth considering what to do at least.
