Territory

eddie/symbiote

check the tags for warnings

(also this is more comics Venom than movie Venom, and in the comics the symbiote and Eddie both have a sliiiightly different mode of speech)

They are not a parasite.

This is so wonderful and sweet and I love it.

Terry Crews of Brooklyn 99 gives the best advice on physical fitness.

Seriously, his Reddit AMA is the most genuinely upbeat, positive actor interview ever. Another great bit:

To be honest, this was the healthiest advice for getting into working out I’ve ever read, and it really was the inspiration for me to start running and going to the gym.No judgement, no “you need to be doing this” mess. Just a simple “do what you can. and feel comfortable”

Also, download a movie, put it on your phone, and watch it at the gym. Like you could just be strolling on a treadmill at 0.8 kph for the duration of a movie and you have now a) watched a movie and b) been walking for an hour and a half. You’re going to want to go to the gym to watch that movie you’ve been wanting to see.

Also works with audiobooks.

venom reading list

people seemed to be into this so if you liked the movie and want to start reading the comics here are some good ones from my venom loving ass

(This is an eddie brock-as-venom centric list because he’s my favorite and also who was featured in the movie so not really anything on the other venoms, sorry!)

Good comics to start with

I honestly don’t think either of the venom origin comics are very good in my gay opinion so I would start with one of these

Lethal Protector - sort of the beginning of venom as an antihero rather than a straight-up villain, and the foundation for his character today and how he was characterized in the movie, so good to start with. It’s just like just eddie and the symbiote trying their fucking best to be good and its cute, just all around a good comic

Venom (2016) STARTING WITH ISSUE 150 - My all time FAVORITE venom run!! a soft reboot of venom, so a great place to start! Like it starts with a great first issue and just keeps going. I honestly love these issues so much, there’s a lot of emphasis on the romantic relationship between the symbiote and eddie and yes this is the run with the mpreg don’t worry about it (no but its eddie and the symbiote figuring out how to raise a child its good)

Where do I go from there?

Venom: The Hunger - a little about the darker side of eddie and the symbiote’s relationship but it ends really nicely and this is the comic where eddie buys his other chocolate for valentines day :) I’d consider it the first canon eddie/symbiote romance comic. Warning though this is SUCH a nineties comic idk how to explain it just look at it

Various other venom one-shots - There are lots of other little venom stories like Separation Anxiety, The Madness, etc. They’re only a few issues long usually and can be good but the Hunger is the only one I would say you absolutely should read

Venom: First host - This run actually just finished and its great! Goes from where 2016 leaves off so more of Eddie and the symbiote trying to raise their kid together and things getting fucked up along the way  :(

Venom (2018) - the ongoing venom series. Tbh I didn’t like it at first and I think some design choices they made were uh how do you say bad but the most recent comic had some really sweet eddie/symbiote stuff so we stan now

Supplementals

Spider-man: Birth of Venom - The original origin comic! It’s mainly spider-man centric and eddie unfortunately looks very uglie in it. There’s also lots of other spider-man comics that feature venom that I didn’t mention here

Venom: Dark Origin - I mean if i had to pick a venom origin out of the two I guess I’d say this one? But the art is really bad and some characterization is off

the rest of Venom (2016) and Venom (2011) - eddie brock isn’t really in these except at the very end of 2016 but if you want to know what happened to venom in-between some of these its here, especially why the symbiote is really fucked up when Eddie finds him again (Lee is the worst human being alive)

Marvel Swimsuit Special Issue #4 - Venom’s in this one. I don’t have to justify this

enjoy!

Where can I read these? Is there like a comics library somewhere?
