sludgebf:
the more comfortable they become with each other, i think, the more seamlessly they’re able to synchronize their intentions and experiences
sooner or later there comes a time venom no longer has to explain what the vibration of the floor under their feet is telling him. eddie’s brain no longer asks permission to process it. they can lie motionless on their back and that’s all they need to hearfeel the conversations happening in the apartment below them, across from them, the people on the street walking past the building. they could enter an unfamiliar room blindfolded someday, tap on the walls, and tell you what the furniture’s made of.
they don’t preserve eddie’s body plan when they’re suited up. that was never how it worked. eddie inside venom is a soup of molecules anchored to a composite mind that’s only half his. but over time what happens—the windows into each other’s brains that they’re constantly peering into, they realize eventually that the curtains behind have drawn open and open and withered into nothing. so it’s not just trust, it’s a continuing oneness of intention. which means it doesnt really matter anymore, whose molecules used to be whose responsibility, and now eddie brock can climb into a gutter without lifting the grate. eddie brock can withstand impacts that would kill an unpartnered human, not because his other can heal his broken bones, but because fluids do not break. this is not a symbiote living inside a human, it’s a symbiote and a human sharing a mass and pooling all the knowledge they have about how to pilot it.
I headcanon that at some point, maybe after a particularly traumatic separation, they just decide ‘fuck it’ and make their bonding permanent. It’s just not worth being two any more.
