You should have seen the white ppl coming over to Asia to take away jobs from the local beggars as well
While also being orientalist as fuck
Asians have already funded lots of things for white pple, it was called colonialism
Again, pls rmb that Asia is not your fucking wallet
These guys are literally too blind to see their entitlement
As I have stated b4, pls dont expect pur locals to give you pocket money for you trip of “enlightenment”
If you decide that you can afford to travel for 5 fucking months, you shouldnt be begging the locals for money
If i was begging in Europe, i would be deported

also white ppl going to places like africa and stuff, pretending to be doctors and getting paid a lot whilst actual african doctors aren’t getting paid shit.

white people love screaming about immigrants (who are poc specifically) coming to their countries and “stealing” their jobs but they don’t like to admit that there’s a wave of white people with no degree coming to poor Asia countries to become english tutors while having no ability to teach, they get hired n paid Way more than asian people with degree just for the sole reason that they’re white.
WTAF??? gdi, guys, this is why people hate us.
Shitty EFL teachers are a real problem in a lot of East Asian countries, but part of the problem is the fact that legitimate schools are willing to hire them.
If you’re looking into English schools either for yourself or for your kids, go to the recruitment part of their website and check what their teaching requirements are. They will usually list what qualifications teachers will need to have.
Only a degree required? This place pays rock bottom wages and is filled with backpackers doing a few weeks’ work before leaving. Avoid.
CELTA recommended? See above. If it’s not mandatory, no one cares.
CELTA required? Check which kind.
Just a random CELTA? See above. Online CELTAs are easy to obtain and absolute bullshit.
CELTA (120 hours teaching experience)? That’s better. This is the minimum requirement you should look for. These teachers might not be the most experienced, but they’ve put down money for a month’s intensive training (3 months part time) and know the basics. More than that, if they’ve taken the time to take this qualification, they’re more likely to stick out the length of their contract so you or your kid won’t have to deal with five different teachers during your course.
1 year + experience required? Now we’re talking. These places only hire professional teachers who know what they’re doing. These are the sort of places you should be aiming for.
I’ve been in Vietnam teaching for two years now and I’ve seen wages plummet due to schools hiring gap year students with no idea what they’re doing, who usually barely see out the month before fucking off to pants parts unknown. I’ve been working as a teacher trainer and watched as more than 50% of the people I’ve trained drop out after just a few weeks, and never mind the impact having a completely new teacher every month will have on the kids.
And this week I’m going to have to renegotiate my contract because despite having two degrees, a CELTA, five years’ experience and currently studying for my DELTA, I’m just not as cheap as a bunch of untrained teenagers who’ll work for peanuts.
