The only downside to watching Parlimentary debates as a spectator sport is that they are so fricking late over here. I want to see the chaplain finally have enough and break Moggs over her knee like a piece of burnt toast.

so it turns out one reason why kissanime’s been sucking ass lately in terms of load times is cause rapidvideo literally uses your browser to mine cryptocurrency???

And that’s just like, one of the hundreds/thousands of other sketchy things the site has going on in the background by just sitting on any of its web pages without an adblocker/scriptblocker

Yo, if you wanna use KissAnime, you gotta be able to protect yourself & your computer from its shadiness. This post is discouraging, but sadly, there aren’t any less shady alternatives (aside from the legal streaming sites, of course) Anyway, if you wanna use any streaming site, you should download these Chrome extensions:

- uBlock Origin

And then you’re gonna wanna add this list to your uBlock filters…it blocks a lot of the nasty popups.

- Kiss Essentials

Removes ads and adds functionality. Can never be too safe, right?

- Pop Up Blocker

This extension is a lifesaver, seriously. Personally, I’ve never seen it used on Kiss, but it works a lot on other streaming sites. With uBlock, Essentials, and Pop Up Blocker, it’s very rare that I see ads.

- Minerblocker

As the name suggests, it blocks crypto miners. I can’t vouch for its reliability yet, as it hasn’t blocked anything for me atm.

I also use a tampermonkey script to block the “Are You Human?” thing. Pretty sure it’s on the Kissanime reddit (also, if you use Kiss a lot, browse that sub even more!! It’s really useful to know what the hell is going on the site before you risk your computer). Make sure to download Malwarebytes, too!

reblogging this again because this is a much better version than just saying “dont use kissanime”

All illegal streaming services do stuff like this, so instead of going somewhere else, learn how to protect yourself from malicious advertisements.

also people really seem to think that specifically children with adhd will suddenly become not distractable if you remove distractors like phones which is very much not the case lol they just zone out you idiots.

my parents did this with homework and i would sit there zoned out till 10 pm not doing shit because they turned the internet off

Neurotypical people tend to not understand that my ability to focus on something I’m not particularly motivated to do will increase tenfold if I can have a secondary task or background distraction with which to pair it. So, for example, if I’m in a boring meeting or have to listen to a webinar or something, my ability to stay tuned in to what’s being said will actually improve greatly if I’m simultaneously allowed to play a game or colour. Likewise, if I have a boring work project that involves inputting data into spreadsheets or something of that nature, I absolutely need to be able to listen to a podcast whilst I work. People think these sorts of things are signs of not being invested, but for me, it’s the difference between engagement and zoning out.

Also see: why I need music to work.

……oh.

When I started my online program to become a pharmacist, I was a bit worried (and sundry family members were a LOT worried) that I wouldn’t be able to focus enough to keep up with recorded lectures.

As it turns out I did *better* than I ever had with face-to-face education because I could do low-focus things like knit or play World of Warcraft while listening to lectures. (Also, canned lectures can be stopped or rewound as many times as you need to, which is rarely the case with live professors.)

The best way to ensure that a child pays attention is to remove environmental distractions, like some big flapping noisy paper model hanging from your ceilings or a seatmate who kicks and pokes them. But then you give them the tools they need to self-regulate; they can determine what level of sensory input they need to obtain the best possible focus, whether that’s folding their legs up in their chair, putting on headphones, or playing with a fidget toy. Because if they’re not focusing as well, they can do something else. They can take the headphones off, put the toy down, shift their legs.

If a child can’t control a distraction? Yes, handle it for them. Shut the door to block out loud noise, turn off commercial radio, adjust the air conditioning. If they can control it? Leave it up to them.

A terrible thing to put an ADHD child: the isolation cubicle (for testing..) it’s essentially a ¾ cardboard box they use so you can’t look at anything. 90% of the time I could not focus and comprehend what I was reading and failed those tests. Pretty sure that shitty thing is why I’m claustrophobic

I went to a business meeting some years back and the guy giving the lecture gave out a whole bunch of stimulation toys and say ‘I don’t like people doodling, so please play with these while I’m talking’.

Next semester everyone in class and beyond will know I’m trans, and most likely be semi-forced to call me by my female name, due to the entire faculty being aware and my name having been changed in the school system.

Here’s a fun fact and reminder that I am not gonna stop posting about as long as I keep seeing this bullshit:

Dear Americans, identifying as a communist is just as offensive as being a literal nazi in a very big part of the world. The hammer and sickle is an offensive symbol that is banned in many countries, just like the swastika. Likely more people died under communist oppression than nazism, and there are people still alive who can tell you about it.

And no, don’t come at me with all this “but the core ideology was good!!” or especially “here we do not have this connotation so it’s not offensive!”. Your media, culture and standards are forced on the entirety of the rest of the world, and whatever you post in english is understandable for everyone else, if I am decent enough to care about issues like blackface (that literally have zero history in eg. my entire country which was never a colonizing nation), you should be decent enough and not make a hip cool internet trend about an oppressive ideology whose victims still remember the horrors and still suffer the consequences :)

Thanks and don’t be surprised if you see this reposted by me again, chances are I saw another fucking idiot who thinks communism is cool uwu it was just never done right, Lenin was a bae uwu glitter rainbow hammer and sickle :3

my grandmother fled with her 4 year old and a fistful of jewelry because the communist regime in hungary was literally that bad

“ohhhh but communism is about EVERYONE being able to go to fancy restaurants!” they actually shot a bunch of peaceful student protesters in front of the capital’s university over the living conditions but sure

i don’t have patience for these assholes anymore

The Russian communist party took the entirety of my ethnicity, forced them out of their homes at gunpoint, locked them in unheated train cars in the middle of winter, and forced them to “””resettle””” in Kazakhstan. Between the trip and first few years of starvation and disease, roughly one hundred thousand died, about half of which were children.

They then let us return to our homeland 12 years later….

and treated us like second class citizens; they took our land, our generational wealth, our culture, our freedom, our families, and future economic and educational opportunities.

Fuck commies

People from countries who have not suffered or are currently suffering from real-life communist crimes DO NOT GET TO DECIDE WHETHER COMMUNISM IS REDEEMABLE.1. the irony of these uwu communism claims is that communism as it was seen in practice was always ready to sacrifice any number of individuals for its propaganda, so, congrats, your ‘but the ideology needs to be preserved despite bad things that happened!’ is exactly the attitude that supports communist governments murdering millions ‘for the greater good’.2. ‘We can’t cancel communism just because some communist regimes were bad’ yet you are willing to cancel all of the victims because you want to repackage the ideology to serve your privileged ass’s need for rebellion against the man? You’re literally exploiting the people for your own gain, you selfish fucks. You’re capitalising on victims of communism.Have some self-awareness for fuck’s sakes.

Hey people, if you really want to create a “communist utopia”, don’t try to reinstate communism. Instead learn about it, see the atrocities its adherents committed, and think carefully about what you’re trying to achieve. If it’s still communism, then you better not try it in my part of the world, because we’ve had enough of that shit for over four decades, and we were the lucky ones - we barely managed to remain USSR’s satellite, and not its part.

Don’t come at us about the core ideology being good - so is the idea about world peace. In reality, both are not possible to achieve with a snap of your fingers - take it from the countries who tried - in practice, communism brings nothing but oppression, so kindly fuck off with your theory.

I think part of the problem is that a lot of Americans seem to have no idea what communism actually is. Instead they confuse it with social democracy, which is based on the idea of the common good and the majority looking out for the weaker minority through the means of government intervention (like healthcare or old age pensions).

The commenter above me is right - I’ve noticed that again and again. Lots of US Americans don’t know what communism or socialism even are. (I once had to explain to someone that no, Germany is not “socialist”, but “a social state”, as in, our state is set up in such a way that the stronger members of society can carry the ‘weaker’ ones (welfare, universal healthcare etc.))

And while I’ve luckily never lived in a communist country myself, I’m still angry when people praise a system that’s responsible for my relatives living in a dictatorship for decades where they had to be constantly afraid of being spied on and tortured/imprisoned in case they’d have to be found to voice displeasure with the regime, and where they couldn’t leave the country and any attempt to flee would have got them killed.

There’s also the difference between what is communism on paper over a hundred years ago and what is communism has been in practise. If you got a time machine and pulled Karl Marx into 2019, the country he would say was closest to his communist ideal would probably be France.

Call trans people by their correct pronouns. Yes even if they’re the worst person ever.

Because being a bad person doesn’t make them not their gender. And when you misgender bad trans people you tell ALL trans people that you think we have to earn our pronouns through good behaviour in a way that cis people don’t have to.

When cis people do awful things that doesn’t suddenly make them not their gender. You don’t call a man rapist “she” or a woman murderer “he” So why should it be different for trans people unless you think our genders are less real? And you hurt all of us through that.

If a trans person commits a crime and you misgender them for it, you aren’t doing it because of their crime, you’re doing it because they’re trans and you think you have the right to revoke their gender whenever you feel like it.

My pronouns are not conditional. I don’t have to earn them through good behaviour. You’re not doing me a favour by using them for me. It’s just basic human decency.

Misgendering a bad trans person is disrespecting all trans people because you are showing us that you think our genders are less real than cis people’s genders and that you only call us our correct pronouns as a “reward.”

Use the correct pronouns. No matter what the person has done.

it’s more like a don’t think that person deserves any respect from me. and there have been a few trans people who call themselves trans just to get into other’s spaces and harass them. a

You can believe someone doesn’t deserve respect without being a bigot. This is not difficult to understand.

If a gay man was doing something awful would you call them a f**got?

A trans person being bad is not an excuse to be transphobic. Bad people might not deserve your respect but that doesn’t make it okay to be bigoted. Do better.

I don’t know why I need to say this in 20-goddamn-19, but two wrongs do not make a right.

If you don’t respect someone because they’re a terrible person, that’s fine, you don’t have to think highly of someone. But if your response is to pull out hatred, bigotry, and insult in response, you aren’t opposing them; you’re joining them.

There are no acceptable targets for bigotry.

Also, to back up what I said in my previous post, [profile] opabiniawillreturn is openly a “gender critical radfem” which means that the openly support bigotry against trans people and trans women specifically.

There are no acceptable targets for bigotry because bigotry is completely unethical. Doesn’t matter how someone wants to justify their bigotry, it’s just not going to make it magically ethical.

In the end, think of it like this. It’s just not about the person. It’s about you. Do you want to be the kind of person who misgenders trans people? Because if you do, that’ll be who you are. And you’ll always know it even if no one else does.

Reminds me of s story a friend of mine told me. When he was , he and his family went to South Africa. While there, they visited an ostrich farm. My friend got to feed the ostriches, ride them, basically had a great day. His mother then decided that the best way to round out this ostrich day, was to go and have ostrich steaks.

Cue my friend staring at the plate of food in horror, and steadfastly refusing to eat. “Ostriches are my friends.”

And mother, impatient by this point: “Well, you eat cows and pigs, and those are just animals too, just like ostriches.”

And my friends has been a vegetarian forever since.

Hi! This tweet has been purposely taken out of context because people never include the rest of the thread. I’m not sure if you did so purposely or not, but please let me include the rest of the thread for you and explain.

Before I share screenshots of the rest of my tweets, first I’ll explain.

tl;dr: I was raised Catholic, taught that homosexuality was a sin. When I got into college, I joined tumblr and learned more about different sexualities and the lgbt+ community and started shifting my views a bit, i.e. I still believed it was still a sin but started to support lgbt+ people having the right to get married. Soon after, I started watching anime. I got into Free! and the fandom made the cutest art and fics and headcanons of all the m/m ships in the show. That made me start realizing that “these ships are so sweet and loving and normal, why is this wrong or sinful?” It made me seeing things differently. I stopped thinking that being gay was a sin, and after a few years of trying to undo internalized homophobia, I realized that I’m bi.

I’m sorry if I didn’t realize my sexuality in a way that was good or pure enough for the rest of you. Yes it took an anime and m/m fanart to make me realize that being gay
was okay, I’m not ashamed to admit that. I live in Texas, I didn’t have many gay people around me in
my personal life (actually I did but didn’t know it at the time because most of them were school friends who were also in the closet for the same reasons as
me).

We all have different upbringings, and mine involved a very religious upbringing where I was constantly told about all these sinful thoughts and actions that could send me to hell. It took a lot to undo all of that.  I’m still not out in real life because I’m terrified my parents will cut me off if they find out, and I’m waiting until I’m more financially independent.

I’d
appreciate it if you would reblog this [profile] crestholder (I can’t tag you for some reason but I hope you see this in your notifications). Whether it was
your intention or not, you sharing this tweet out of context results in
me continually being harassed and it’s very upsetting. I just want people to know the full tweet thread and my thought process before they decide to judge me.

Now here are the rest of my tweets on this.

i think what really gets me about this is that we can all clearly see your bi icon in the screenshot like. we’re really getting mad at lgbtq+ ppl who grew up in homophobic environments for opening up to discovering themselves through fiction? that’s where we’re at. really.

Yep. Even on twitter when this was going around being mocked (when people had the ability to read the entire thread and all my tweets), I was still getting quote-retweets from other lgbt+ people saying “oh she’s bi? we don’t claim her.” :\

Apparently I’m a bad bi because it took fandom for me to get over my homophobia. I should’ve been born woke I guess

I’m very sorry people are doing this to you, man. As someone raised in a muslim family. I experienced the same with anime. You don’t deserve to have your words as bi person taken out of content like that.

People, even from our own community, can be really gross to their own. Which is a shame.

It’s a real shame. I’ll never understand how people can be so cruel and mocking towards others in their community. Have some compassion and understanding, y’know? I’m mostly over it now, it’s been months, but occasionally a screenshot of this tweet still gets passed around (à la

op here) with no context and that reignites a-holes in my inbox again

OP I can totally relate to your experience because growing up in India you get taught that “LGBT is evil western culture but Indians have true values and gay people don’t exist here.” We have even less of an excuse to be homophobic than you do because none of the Hindu holy books mention that LGBT is sinful in fact they don’t bring it up at all. In spite of that most Indian kids are taught that LGBT people are freaks and being gay is the worst insult.

We had an anime channel called Animax. In the mid-2000s they used to air “Maria Watches Over Us.” That was my first introduction to the idea of LGBT being portrayed as just another love like straight people have. “Fate/Stay Night”, which I got into around the same time, was the first time I had a crush on a female fictional character. Those things were part of what led to me realizing I was bi when I was in 12th grade.

It doesn’t matter how someone became accepting or discovered themselves. It matters that they got there at all.

That’s very true! Thank you for sharing your story too. It’s reassuring that others had a similar experience

what the fuck is goiing on

You acted like a cunt and got served, pretty much.

That is exactly what’s going on. [profile] crestholder is garbage for taking an innocent and extremely relatable statement and trying to get people to attack [profile] discoursecatharsis .

w

y’all are whack as shit crestholder didn’t try to get anyone to attack anyone lmfao the tweet out of context is just funny. y’all are too fuckin much

Crestholder also didn’t try to stop all the awful, rude comments and replies geared towards me when they shared this screenshot. And this post also explains the 20+ anon messages I woke up to mocking me about this a week ago so.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You’re full of BS, crestholder left no comment to indicate that “lol this tweet is funny.” They just sat back and let people make horrible conclusions about me.
Nice attempt to save your friend’s ass though, 10/10.

I just want an apology or some acknowledgement of “oops, I didn’t know, my bad,” but y’all can’t even do that much. Pitiful.

1. it’s not their job to filter idiots who don’t go and seek out full context of the tweet, direct your annoyance towards them (or how about don’t give them attention–it really isn’t hard to just delete malicious anons)2. crestholder also left 0 comments pertaining to any opinion on your tweet or later statements either, so you can’t really go and make that claim either. the tweet is posted as is, because as is, it seems comedic. not every post needs indication of anything. you can just post things as is3. im not friends w op gg4. everyone gets anon hate, it’s called ignore it and don’t give them attention. i have people in my inbox daily saying stupid shit. u know what i do? not give a fuck bc no one is entitled shit

What was their intent in sharing my screenshot out of context with no comment then? If you’re not friends with them, how do you know they didn’t intend for people to mock or harass me?

In my initial reply to crestholder, I even acknowledged that they may not have had ill-intent in sharing my tweet out of context, and simply stated that I would appreciate if they would reblog my explanation so people know the full story. And crestholder replies with a “what the fuck is going on.” So I think it’s clear that their intention is to treat my tweet (and as an extension, me, and all the other people who have similar experiences) as a joke, when it’s sharing a common experience many people have (realizing their sexuality through fiction/fandom).

I simply explained the full context behind my tweet. They could’ve just reblogged my explanation and said “sorry, I didn’t know” and been done with it.

I did ignore and delete the anon hate. Then a week later, I found the source where it was coming from
(whether with intent or not, their post is responsible for the anon hate I got yet again months after this drama finally died down). I approached OP to explain my tweets, hoping they would be considerate and spread the truth. So what’s your issue here?

As someone who’s had their statements screenshotted with no context and received anon hate for it, please consider not doing that, OP. It’s not funny, it’s a dick move. Especially for people such as myself who spent their entire childhoods being bullied relentlessly for being weird and cringeworthy.

Fuck people, I remember when fanfic was starting to take off online, and slash fic was becoming more and more common and there were message boards swamped with comments about how they had never considered queer issues before but (insert fic here) had really opened their eyes.

I grew up in a country where it was illegal to expose kids to anything gay, fanfic was the first time I became aware of queer culture, and it went miles towards normalising it for me.

Nate shifted uncomfortably as the man unleashed a hail of French at him. He never quite knew what to say, not only because he’d doodled his way through every language class he’d been to, but because he could feel the eyes of those thousand scribbled killer robots on him. Nate met the man’s eyes with undisguised guilt, and wondered if he could borrow someone’s workshop.
