Five Times Dalamar Made Raistlin Feel Really Stupid

1- The first time they had sex. He'd been completely convinced that sex was disgusting and repulsive, and he hadn't expected to be proved wrong quite so spectacularly. He made a vow on the spot that next time he'd experience whatever it was before judging it to avoid future problems. Dalamar had been right, sex was amazing.

After the Amberyl incident, he revised that opinion. His first opinion had been the correct one, sex in general was a revolting and horrific act. Sex with Dalamar alone was amazing.

2- The first time he and Dalamar got drunk. Or to be exact, the first time he had gotten drunk in Dalamar's presence. They had both had several glasses of wine, and while the elf wasn't affected (or at least, not enough to show it) he was. He didn't want to seem like a lightweight, however, and stalwartly denied he was anything but sober. Dalamar wasn't convinced; arguing that Raistlin really was very inebriated and should let the elf guide him home.
Raistlin finally lost his temper and shouted "By all the Gods Dalamar, I am not drunk!" before walking straight into a vallenwood branch.

Raistlin thinks he could only have been less embarressed had Dalamar not been the only witness, as it was, he had felt utterly morified, and the Dark elf's shrieks of laughter didn't help. He didn't think he'd ever seen Dalamar laugh that hard.

3- One night, during their mercenary years, they had been spending the night camped in a field with the rest of the army, and a group of camp followers and whores had caught up, much to the pleasure of men. 
Raistlin had felt disgusted, looking at the lewd dfisplay, and had spat a few disparaging remarks about what kind of person would stoop to doing that for a living?
Dalamar had looked at him, he hadn't said anything, just looked. It was a look Raistlin would have happily given several years of his life to forget. At that moment he had just wanted to dig a hole in the ground and die in it, and would have given anything to be able to un-say those words.

4- They had been having dinner, in Raistlin's house on Solace during their first weeks together. The Dark elf had been shooting him odd looks all evening when he thought Raistlin wasn't looking, and occasionally shifting to rearrage his robes. Raistlin had been completely baffled, and eventually, when Dalamar had pulled down his robes from one shoulder, had asked if the Dark elf had been bitten by something, because if he had he had something that could help-
He'd been cut off by Dalamar's laugher, and his gasped words that he really was inexperienced if he couldn't pick up a 'come hither' look that obvious.

Raistlin knows it must have been funny from the Dark elf's point of view, but it was utterly humiliating and he was glad when Dalamar later apologised for his reaction.

5- The evening after Raistlin returned from his Test. He'd spent most of the evening coughing himself hoarse, and it was slowly sinking in that this was what he would have to live with for the rest of his life. The thought was awful, and Raistlin couldn't help but wonder what Dalamar must be thinking, being tied to a cripple for the rest of his life. The thought that the Dark elf might stay out of pity was sickening enough that he had told Dalamar that if he wanted to leave him, he could, and Raistlin would not think any less of him.

The look on the Dark elf's face alone had been enough to silence him, and afterwards, when Dalamar lay him down tenderly and started to show him just how important he was to him, Raistlin knew that really, this was one thing he really didn't mind being wrong about.

Number five has been (partially) written, although I'm especially fond of three, it's just such a Raistlin thing to do.

Very much! And that's where canonRaistlin and I&E-Raistlin differ: canonRaistlin doesn't care whom he hurts or even enjoys it (depending on situation and whom he's talking to), while I&E-Raistlin really doesn't want to hurt Dalamar, but is so used to being sarcastic to everyone else that the words are out before he cn stop himself.

I find that my Raistlin is a whole lot more 'human' than canon, although that's probably because he's one of the main POVs.

And because he is still young enough not to become as unhuman as that. Dalamar stopped him before that process, definitely.
And of course the POVness helps as well. From, say, Riverwind's perspective he is still a sarcastic asshole with creepy behaviour and impossible manners. (Don't we love him? ";-))

I'm still wondering if there's a way my Raistlin could meet his 'canon' self. And the same with Dalamar and Palin. Raistlin would be horrified, since in canon he's very much like Fistandantilus. Palin would be disgusted, since in canon he gave up the magic, and in my universe that's anathema to him. As for Dalamar, his 'other' self would attack him out of jealousy ;)

Only after telling him the story of his life, especially the part with Raistlin, thereby finding a way to rip his robes open and show him how horrible and abusive their relationship is, dropping no word as to why exactly he is staying with his oh-so-awful master anyway, even though his plot with the conclave has been found out ages ago. ";-P
But really, I doubt you could get the four or six of them to have tea together. And no sex either.

I second the *ouch* for 3. Foot in mouth moment. Love 2...I can so see that. And I want to hear more of 4 and 5.
