What a lot of people genuinely don’t seem to understand about how dangerous this shit Cernovich is doing is that the dude is a rape advocate who very deliberately uses sexual abuse as the thing he tries to tar his targets with. I’ve been following his behavior for the last four years, and this is the same stunt he always pulls, over and over.
The reason being: either his targets are hurt and de-platformed and that’s one less person arguing against his disgusting ideology or, and this is equally acceptable an outcome for him, people don’t believe him at all
Because the average person doesn’t keep track of where these kinds of accusations come from on the internet, especially when so much of the original reporting came from Fox News, which seems fairly reputable to many people. So for someone like Cernovich who has been charged with rape and doesn’t believe date rape is even possible, getting more and more people to think that rape or sexual abuse accusations are sometimes things that are made up on the internet is not a loss. Getting people to second guess the next abuse accusation, because sometimes it turns out this shit is totally made up, is a pretty big win for, you know, an actual fucking rapist.
If people believe him, he wins. If they don’t, he still wins.
This is the high stakes game he’s playing. Whether or not you care about his specific targets, know that his long game is undermining all victims and removing their voice entirely.
Know what game you might be deciding to play along with because for the moment you think a monster is serving your particular aims. Think about the long game. Know what your role in this shit is before you decide to go along.
