1- Each and every time he saw the two of them having sex. It was wrong in a way that went beyond the usual disgust of a brother having sex. After all, he doesn't care what Kitiara does. But for Raistlin... even the thought of such an act turns his stomach, and he couldn't understand how his brother could even contempate was he does with Dalamar without feeling sick. He's often offered to find Raistlin a girl and show him what he's missing, and is sure that if his brother were to try one, he'd realise Caram on is right. But his brother never does anything but sneer at him. It's this more than anything that makes Caramon think that Dalamar has Raistlin under an enchantment, or is at least coercing him.
Because no one could possible want to do that wilingly.
2- The first time he heard Raistlin tell Dalamar he loved him. He hadn't heard what the two mages had been talking about, and only caught that one fragment. It was enough for his stomach to rebel against not only lunch but dinner as well. To hear Raistlin say those words- the first time he had ever heard his twin say them, and in a tone so soft and tender that it was almost impossible to imagine it coming from his lips- made his stomach turn over, and want to jut grab his twin and shake him until he realised how he was being duped. In this, Caramon considers himself wiser than his brother.
3- When Raistlin tried to save Dalamar in Darken Wood. While Caramon wouldn't wish death at the specters' hands on anyone, if it was the only way to keep the Dark elf from his brother, he would gladly stand back and leave him to his fate. Raistlin had seen it otherwise. Caramon's heart had nearly stopped beating when his brother had stepped between Dalamar and the advancing specters. He hadn't really thought about what he was doing, just grabbing his brother and dragging him away. Sometime he still recalls Raistlin's screams in his dreams, and how his frail brother fought, desperation lending him strength and catching Caramon a stunning blow with his staff.
It hadn't been so much the fear of what the specters would do to Raistlin, but that Raistlin would take such a risk. That his brother would chance death at the heads of the undead to save Dalamar. The realisation might not have destroyed his appetite entirely, but he ate a good deal less at the Forestmaster's table than he would have otherwise.
4- Raistlin's reaction when Caramon told him of his relationship with Tika. It had been in Flotsam and Dalamar had been there too, he would have liked to speak to his brother alone, but recently the only way to seperate the two was with a crowbar. Raistlin had given a half-hearted shrug, obviously preoccupied by something else, and Dalamar had just rolled his eyes. There had been an awkward moment of silence, and Raistlin had asked "Was that all?" And when Caramon had nodded he too had rolled his eyes and he and Dalamar had walked off.
It hadn't been the reaction so much as the lack of a reaction that had so stung him. He'd wanted a reaction. He'd wanted Raistlin to be jealous, disgusted, possessive, the way he had always reacted to Caramon's girlfriends before Dalamar came. This just meant Raistlin simply didn't care, Caramon could do whatever he liked, it was nothing to do with him. Afterwards, he had felt so despondent that it was all he could do to choak down his dinner that night.
5- Everytime he hears Raistlin laugh, or sees him smile. Because Raistlin never used to smile and laugh like that before Dalamar came, no matter how hard Caramon tried to cheer him. Dalamar can draw those smiles and laughter without even seeming to try, and that the elf could succeed so easily when he's tried so hard and still fails at is sickening, and every time he's reminded of it, he finds it hard to eat.
Because no one could possible want to do that wilingly.

Date: 2007-04-23 09:25 pm (UTC)Actually, I don't feel sorry for him one bit. Get a life, Caramon!
But you are aware, that, with this one you have created another storyline possibility, don't you? Dark, evil, obsessed Caramon. If he weren't all that dumb, there'd be potential.
Damn, now I want to see "Celebrity Deathmatch": Caramon Majere vs Dalamar the Dark. *bets all her money on the dark elf*
More five things? How about: "Five Times Dalamar and Caramon Actually Spoke With Each Other". Because somehow they never seem to. (I know they'd both avoid it, but the three share a house for a good while, so it has to happen, doesn't it?

Date: 2007-04-23 09:34 pm (UTC)Evil!Caramon? I don't really write him as evil, obsessed yes, and more than a little creepy, but well... at least not yet. Besides, Chetwynd's much better at that than I am ;)
The stand off between Caramon and Dalamar kind of already happened: their fight over Raistlin. Caramon didn't stand a chance.
That's a good one. I've been writing while I'm at work mostly, and doing these memes are a lot of fun. I'll try and do this one tomorrow, keep me supplied!

Oh yes, Chetwynds Caramon is wonderfully mad and evil.
With fight I thought of something more catfight-style, with lots of hair-pulling and fingernails. *griiiin*
I'll try to keep you busy! Can't let you watch ducklings all the time! (You'll never live that one down, you know?)
