I know we’re all happy at how energetic and ball of energy Thirteen is but for some reason I relate so much to Thirteen’s anger and how she presents it. The first we really see it is when she understands the full implication.

Tim Shaw was not the first Stenza warrior to go to Earth like it’s a Safari hunt, the race turned Earth into a hunting ground.

We see Thirteen’s face harden and her eyes turn steely and there’s a darkness there that’s just cold.

And for a brief moment I’m reminded of this scene from Deep Breath.

In a much angrier regeneration, fresh from a 900 year siege, Twelve responded with fury. The Doctor’s done a lot to protect the people from Christmas, and the Time Lords, and then the half faced man destroyed a dinsoaur under the Doctor’s protection, and threatens to kill more people. And, as we know the Doctor alone and emotional is the Doctor that makes dangerous and deadly decisions.

The Doctor is newly regenerated into Thirteen. She has people with her this time around. But T’zim Sha pushes Thirteen’s buttons first by accusing her of not being smart (a personal insult to the Doctor) and then by unwittingly admitting that he cheated.

I love Thirteen’s furious: Tim Shaw is a Big Blue Cheat. Like damn.

And then her realization right here, she’s not looking forward to her plan bearing fruit but because of the Ritual of the Stenza and how awful the Stenza’s use their ‘trophies’ Thirteen needs to get the message across: Earth is not their hunting ground.

Thirteen might be sunny and more open but make no mistake, Thirteen is still the Doctor.

And there is a reason why the Time Lords wanted the Doctor desperately on their side during the Time War.

I like how instead of trying to make Tim a Predator style ‘proud warrior race’ guy, he’s more like the shitstains who shot Cecil the lion.
