Thank God the Phelps don't have Nukes

Because is they did, then we can more or less kiss goodbye to most of the human race. And most of animal life, because animals are fags too. And most of the plant life too, because they cros-pollenate. In fact, if they had nuclear weapons, all life on earth would end. I mean, honestly. Thank God for Katrina. Thank God for AIDS, Thank God for the Holocaust. If a lot of people died, they're probably thanking God for it.

Keith Allen, a (very) brave English comedian, decided, because he was bored, that he would go and visit this band of psychopaths. A far better documentary that 'The Most Hated Family In America', despite that it was made on a shoestring in what was effectively a rather odd holiday (which is rich coming from someone who's planning to go on a Holocaust tour of Europe). Rather than making us feel outraged, we laugh our socks off. These people really do tell you you're going to hell in the exact same tone and breath they say hello. They also think Jesus died for them rather than anyone else. Shirley Phelps (Freddie's daughter) has an illegitamet (sp?) son, but thinks that's okay. Then says that you can only have one spouse (of the opposite sex). The fags are still going to hell, by the way. Oh, and they think gay people hate each other and eat shit.

The thing is, these people aren't ignorant. They aren't backwater rednecks (for all that they look like them). They aren't out there for their own gains. They really are that mad. Trust me, I know, you cannot argue with people who's opinions are as convoluted, hypocitical and contradictory as... well, the bible they quote non-stop.

Wikipedia is going to hell, by the way. Regardless that this is a website and thus has no soul (you only need to look at fanfiction.net to know that). It's fair to say that Livejournal's probably going there too (although I wouldn't debate the current owners might).

Though, to be fair, I haven't seen them burning cows or selling off their daughters, so I don't think they were following the bible quite that accurately. It is weird though, that these people know, beyond all doubt, that everyone they meet is going to hell. Allen left feeling some grudging respect for the Phelps clan, for their total and complete belief. I didn't see anything too admirable in there, personally, but that's probably because I've been studying Nazis for the past few weeks, and blind belief is two a penny over there.

Yes, people who think everyone is going to hell are quite mad, but so are people who beat someone to death under the pretense that said person is gay when a whole town can testify to the oposite.

Hahaha...I love the fact that that phrase can be read in a multiple of ways.

I hate godbotherers just for the fact that I hate anyone who would condemn me to hell just for being myself. Why can't people just exist without being condemned for it.

Btw, who are the Phelps? Do I want to know?

The Phelps are a bunch of flaming homophobes who believe 99.9% of the human race is going to hell, and are very eager to tell people of this. They spend most of their time picketing people's funerals, and celebrating that the deceased has gone to hell. All in all, rather unpleasent people. If this is the sort of people you get in heaven, then thank God I'm going to hell.

They are really and absolutely brainwashed. I doubt it's very hard to teach people this attitude of smug superiority. I mean, it must be immensely satisfying to walk down a street and feel better than everybody else, because hey, Jesus died for them and everyone else in eyesight is most obviously going to hell. What could cheer you more? Being better than everyone else is what most people want above all other things and if someone suddenly comes and tells them how, they adopt his teachings happily. Not that, in case of the Phelps family, any additional indoctrination seems to have been necessary. They have probably been brainwashed from birth.

Personally, I do not have anything against Christians (which would be stupid anyway, seeing as most people I know are more or less Christian, though most of them probably do not waste a minute a year thinking about it), as long as they keep their religion to themselves or discuss it reasonably and without playing missionary. Each to their own, after all.
And while I can respect people with strong beliefs (as long as they use them on themselves and not to judge others), they lose that respect where their beliefs interfere with the personal rights of others. Even worse so, when they themselves have double standards (blaming people for sex without marriage but having illegitimate children of their own, for example). And what has come of all the classical Christian virtues? Humility, for instance. What's humble about the "I'm saved! I'm chosen above all others!" attitude of the Phelps? And "You all go to hell, nananananana!" is hardly "love thy neighbour" to me. (And does the bible have special laws against gloating, by the way?)
