sleepy-demon:

I like Venom but there are two or three members of the fandom (on tumblr) who act like shitheads because they have different interpretations of the character or have read more comics or have been part of the fandom for longer or don’t ship a popular ship or something like that and I really wish they’d keep all that negativity to themselves.

There are a ton of people who don’t ship Symbrock. Most of them just ignore it. A few of them make posts about why Symbrock is a bad ship and that’s alright too, that’s your opinion—but attacking shippers? Calling them stupid, casual fans, fetishizers, etc? Stop it. It makes you look like a complete jackass. You can dislike something without going after everyone who ships it.

And don’t act surprised when you’re rude to a group of people and they stand up against you. Don’t throw the first stone and complain that you’ve been hit. If you block someone, stop reblogging them and stop vaguing them and just drop it. I’m tired of this behavior. Fandoms are supposed to be fun and have diversity. Act like an adult; either be kind to people or leave.

I don’t usually vague but it’s one person who’s pissed me off because they act so much better than everyone else and are rude to people and I really wish they’d stop calling themselves part of the fandom. They’ve even said they haven’t read all the comics or agree with everything in canon, but still think they’re a better fan than others. It’s gross.

This is what happens in all comic or movie fandoms, though. I have no idea why this medium is a breeding group for entitlement.
