 I actually do love Dr Who. It's so frigging English it's impossible not to. I've only watched a few episodes of the latest series and I already love them. They're hilarious. The last one had a bunch of badly made up robots fight flying (flying!) Daleks. If you've never seen a Dalek fly, then trust me, the producers should have stuck to having them earthboud. Dealing with the snickers of something completely bolloxed up by stairs is nothing compared to the barely restrainded hysterics of people watching a flying saltshaker. Trust me on this one. The only thing better is when a random prism starts shooting Daleks in all directions, so you end up with a flying Dalek army. Then all restraint goes out the window.

To be honest though, the best part of that episode was watching a Dalek and a Cyberman respectively shrieking 'EX-TER-MIN-ATE!' and intoning 'DELETE' at each other, growing steadily louder and and more and more high-pitched.

Anyway, it's a completely absurd show that strenuously opposes any attempt to take it seriously.
