Student: What does symbolism mean?
Me: *About to strangle the writers of this textbook because this is supposed to be elementary level wtf*
Me: It means the meaning of something, rather than what it looks like. I saw a cartoon today which had Donald Trump as a gorilla. The person who drew it didn’t think he was a gorilla, he made him look like that to show he was ugly and stupid and angry.
Me: *And now I’m feeling sorry for all gorillas everywhere*
