Slightly more relevant point on Tarantino: I like that he seems to have learned from Inglorious Basterds. In Basterds I think he went ‘Oh, I accidentally made nazis look cool, I’d better not make that mistake again.’ (aka the American History X problem)
And thus he went on, making his bad guys look like the most pathetic and miserable assholes imaginable. And none of them were ever played by Christoph Waltz again.
