“straight people have never known what it’s like for their love to be illegal!” hey quick question have any of y’all ever heard of anti miscegenation laws in your life
the same month my dad turned five, his aunt was denied a marriage because she was brown and her fiancé was white. this was not that long ago! like, please do call out and talk about straight privilege. but as a queer person of color: i am begging y’all to do it w/o erasing the history of racism
I keep saying ppl on here love to confuse whiteness for straightness. Just because white het ppl have it easy doesn’t mean its the same for poc or ppl in interracial relationships (ESPECIALLY non white interracial relationships).
Quit invalidating m/f love just because u think its straight, and even if it is, straight poc need just as much validation and representation as any gay couple because we rarely see ourselves in healthy loving relationships in media either, and it’s especially rare to ever see interracial love! Its fucking 2018 and the scarcity of good poc and interracial love representation is disgusting.
There are also disabled couples who can’t get married or live together without losing their government benefits, meaning they wind up without housing and/or other basic needs.
There may not be any laws against disabled marriage but when the government is going to penalise you anyway by starving or freezing you to death, the result is virtually the same.
