Dinner today is kidney beans in a chilli sauce straight from the can, and seeing as I considered that to be cheating, I decided to add bacon.
Mental notes for future cooking:
Frying bacon does not involve or need to involve any oil.
Pouring cold water on a hot, oily frying pan is a good way to get a Darwin award. One way or another.
Despite these setbacks and my admittedly rather paranoid worry about the sate of the bacon (it's in it's sell by date and has been kept unopened in the fridge, stop worrying), this is actually rather good :)

Dad thing is fail. Spent the last hour talking to my aunt about it. Feeling a bit more philosphical now.
