Silver, actually.
In fact, it was a replica. A replica SS ring that I was careless enough to drop on the beach and thought lost. Thankfully, due to the genius of my commanding officer, we managed to retireve the buried treasure before any pesky americans could beat us to it. So 90 minuters and half a dune later, I have my ring back, and am feeling, very very happy.
