George RR Martin has enabled people to post on his LJ.
The poor, poor bugger.
As he's like the best fantasy writer of the 21st century (I don't count my favourite Micheal Moorcock sionce his writing's no longer as good), people have been flocking to his blog to read up on news of when the next Song of Ice and Fire book is coming out. Letting them comment means leaving yourself open to all the pleas, whines, howls and blackmail of his fantasy-starved desciples.
It could be worse, he could have let them comment during the five year wait between books three and four. That would have been ugly.
His latest post has been up for about ten minutes and has about 50 posts already, he's now offically scared.
The poor old sod.
p.s.- to GRRM, write more or the hamster gets it!
