Is there any book you can read over and over again without ever getting sick of it? Do you discover something new every time you read it?

The Ogre by Michael Tournier, known in french as Le Roi des Aulnes. It was the reason I couldn't enjoy Les Bienviellantes as much as I should have, because Little was trying to do the same as Tournier, and I wasn't impressed because Tournier had done it so much better.

If you like Les Bienviellantes, pick this one up, it's not nearly so long, and the main character is a creature of pure beauty. It take a little time to get going, being set just before and after WW2, and while there is no man lovin' they nail Nazi Germany so fucking perfectly you don't feel the lack so much.

An awesome, awesome book thatwas single-handedly responsible for dragging me out of my 2008 depression.
