A few years ago, my stepfather gave me a really cool art book. It's on of those than emphasises every muscle in the human body so you learn to draw them from exaggeration. I like it, and while I don't draw nearly as much as I used to, my little ink scribbles have become far more realistic since I started reading the book (the SS uniforms took a while to get right, though. My last notebook was almost entirely populated by Mirek/Johannes sketches).
Anyway, since I've been going to the gym, I've been losing a lot of subcutaneous fat, and it's been a bit weird seeing the muscles I'd been drawing slowly appear. I mean, I'd known calf muscles resembled two elongated comet shapes down to the ankle, but it's slightly bizarre to be able to trace them out. Ditto for forearms.

The funny thing is that my weight hasn't changed at all. It's the really daft thing about trying to lose weight going to the gym. You slim down, but the weight doesn't fluctuate too much because muscle is heavier than fat.

I'm hoping to do the London Marathon at some point. I can run about a quarter of it after six months. By that rule, I should be able to run it in two years, and maybe by that point I could give my stepfather that book back because I'd be able to use my own body as a life study ;)
