skull_bearerWent back to the German Historical Institute today to get some of my reading done. Wow. Everyone, if you ever want to read up about anything german related/ are German and are int he UK for whatever reason, go there. It's awesome. It's like some 18th century palace with chandeliers and mahogany desks and carpets and things. I ended up in the common room on an overstuffed leather chair with both my feet up (sans shoes) on the oak cofee table. The book was interesting (German Jewish History in Modern Times, vol 3) although I did get the feeling I was reading about the social history of the middle classes in the late 19th, early 20th C with indicental racism.
