I have finally gotten myself something that can actually pass as a decent mobile phone in this day and age. It's a smart phone, and it's... kinda cool actually. I mean, wow, I have a phone you can get internet on (and promptly spent the rest of the evening on Ao3). Then I decided it was time to give my phone the MOST AWESOME RINGTONE OF ALL TIME and downloaded the Dark Crystal Landstrider theme. Because if nothing else I don't think I'll be getting my phone confused with anyone elses' after that.
So yeah, it's cool, I'm still in the dark about 75% of what it can do, but it's not too high end otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to find the call button.

Tbh, I was an early adopter way back and loathed the thing so got rid, but with my MiL's recent death and having to deal with lawyers in Scotland at long range and being a regular traveller, it seemed wise to have one again.

*nods* I have a Nokia running the old Symbian OS, which I find far, far more logical than this Android stuff. It's disconcerting for me to see phones that range from $100 to $5000 all using Android, which essentially gives them all exactly the same functionality, just with different hardware bells and whistles. A huge improvement over my previous (also relatively low-end) phone, but I do miss my brick. Every two days the battery runs out on my phone and I long for the phones of ten years ago with glare-less black and white screen and easy-to-push tactile buttons that ran a month without needing a recharge!
