So I will now complain endlessly about it:
1- I don't know if it was the film's fault, because no one else appears to be complaining so it might just be the cinema I saw it in, but holy fuck the 3D was a mess. I have literally never seen it that bad. There was doubling all over the place, I couldn't tell what the fuck was going on half the time(the choreography was excellent, so it wasn't that) and by the halfway point I was getting a SPLITTING headache. I felt like leaving the cinema to get my money back, it was that bad.
2- I disliked the plot on a 'message' standpoint, the idea that everything bad in the world can be traced back to a single source is trite and boring and sells the world short. It's the kind of shitty self-centred logic peddled by the worst kind of conspiracy theorists. Pass.
3- WHERE. WAS. IRON MAN. Seriously, I spent the entire last two thirds of the movie all but screaming PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL TONY STARK YOU UTTER MORONS! SHIELD (which he is at least nominaly part of) has gone berserk and is threatening the world with flying warships, it migth be JUST A LITTLE helpful to have someone on your side who can a) fly and b) has advanced technical knowledge and c) HAD A HAND IN BUILDING THE FUCKING THINGS.
Seriously, I would buy that he was too busy with the events of IM3, but there was that moment where one guy asked if Tony could show up at his kid's birthday party in the suit. As Tony is considered dead through most of IM3 and blows up his suits at the end then IM3 has either not happened yet or is being considered non-canon (no complaints there). It could be said that they didn't want to attratch attention, but Natasha worked undercover at Stark Industries for quite a while, I'm sure she could have gone in and out without being seen.
This is a problem for a lot of the stand-alone movies. Once the Avengers have worked togetehr once you keep having to find reasons for them not to work together again, particularly when, like this, the threat is too big to ignore. Tony should have been there, Clint should have been there. Thor has an excuse and I get they might not have wanted Hulk in on it, IM3 was, like most fo the Iron man movies, centred on Tony himself so I undertsand why the others migth not have joined in, but seriously, this? No excuse, and it kept throwing me out of the movie.
Like most things, just assume everything I'm not bitchign about I liked. All the characters were great and it was a lot of fun, but I always love bitching more than praising, so don't take it personally.
